During my nearly three decades on the faculty at the University of Kansas, my research focus was crisis communications. Sometimes, the scholarship focused on the past, such as in Ike's Red Scare. Yet other times, the focus was contemporary issues, such as the aftereffects on campuses nationwide after the horrific Virginia Tech murders in 2007. I also collaborated on three public relations textbooks and an attorneys' guide for dealing with the media. To date, I have published two single-authored books and am working on a third.
